“"Slow down, look closer, and discover: there is so much more to your story that is slowly beginning to be revealed to you." - Morgan Harper Nichols
I've always wanted to understand and connect with people deeply, and this led me to pursue my path as a social worker and public interest lawyer. Over the last 12 years, I've worked in the nonprofit sector, addressing inequities and systemic racism in our criminal justice system, as well as combating gender-based oppression and violence. I've coached and consulted with attorneys, judges, social workers, and other criminal justice professionals around systems change and building equitable practices. I've also coached executive leaders seeking to identify and implement diversity, equity, inclusion & accessibility priorities in their work. Alongside my systems change work, I spent four years working directly with children and their families in the Bronx who experienced trauma. Through this therapeutic work, I developed a deep understanding of how trauma can impact daily functioning.
My experiences with both systems change and individual therapy have drawn me to another system that is broken: the social support system for parents. As a parent of multiple children born during the pandemic, I've seen the ways in which trauma and lack of societal supports can create painful isolation and struggle for parents. I've developed a passion for providing individual therapeutic support to parents, as well as affirming parents' experiences with a broken support system. My goal is to walk alongside parents as they develop a better understanding of themselves, and build supports that will help them address anxiety, stress, or other daily struggles. I also seek to help parents deepen and build connections with supportive folks in their community.
I graduated from Washington University-St. Louis with a dual MSW and JD. I have specialized training in perinatal mental health, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and the Child & Family Traumatic Stress Intervention, and I'm a member of the NJ chapter of Postpartum Support International.
I'm also neurodivergent and non-binary, and am always striving to create an affirming, warm, curious, and liberatory environment for all of my clients, including those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse.
